(April 15, 2010) After scoring her best finish of the 2010 season last week at Salem Speedway, Alli Owens is primed for another strong performance in this week’s Rattlesnake 150.Owens was 15th fastest in the final practice session of the afternoon. Her fastest lap during the two-hour session was 29.930 seconds (180.421 mph) around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. Owens is very happy with her ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevy’s performance and anxiously awaiting race day, despite not being at the top of the practice charts.
“Our car was awesome in race trim,” said Owens. “Jeff (McClure) made really good adjustments. I was a little bit snug on exit when we started practice, but it got better and better each time my crew worked on the car. At the end of the session, I was riding on the white line through the corners. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.
“We didn’t have a good mock run, and that kept us from being at the top of the charts. That’s OK, though. The most important thing is that we’ve got a car capable of running up front. On long runs, we’re definitely a top-10 car. All of our Venturini cars were super-strong today. I think you’ll see us all working together tomorrow and leading the charge to the checkers.”
Qualifying was cancelled due to rain showers. The starting lineup was set according to last season’s final owner point standings, which puts Owens 25th on the grid for tomorrow’s race.
