Thunder Vally Racing owner and Editor-in-Chief Karen Salvaggio was awarded the 2011 Western Endurance Racing Challenge (WERC) Championship at the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) banquet held at Santa Anita Park. Following the sudden loss of her husband, and crew chief, Andy Salvaggio, in September 2011, Karen and her dedicated race team made the decision to finish the race season as a tribute to Andy. Competing in her Factory Five Racing Type-65 Coupe, Karen and her co-drivers Rick Anderson, Dave Brown, Dave Standridge, and Jeff Awender, completed the 25 Hours of  Thunderhill, finishing the season and securing the championship
