Team Thunder Valley Racing to Run 25 Hours of Thunderhill

coupecaspeedwayTeam Thunder Valley Racing will be taking on the most extreme endurance race in North America, competing in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill on December 5-6, 2009. This will mark the team’s third attempt at the 25 Hours, having competed with an FFR Challenge Series spec racer in 2007 and 2008. This year, the team will bring a new track weapon to the 25 Hours competition, campaigning the first ever Factory Five Racing Type 65 Coupe, which the team refers to as the “Type 65-R Coupe.”

This coupe was purpose-built as an endurance racer from the beginning, and started its life on the East Coast, in the Marcus Motorsport stable, and owned by SCCA/NASA racer Dan Elam. The coupe has earned both SCCA and NASA logbooks, and has competed in both Super Production and Super Unlimited classes. It was campaigned in 2005, 2006 and 2007 at Summit Point, VIR, and Road Atlanta, and this no-nonsense build was designed to fit racing in its form and function.

The coupe will be competing in the ES Class, and will be running against many of the fastest (and most well-developed, and monetarily supported) racecars in the competition. We are part of a two car team (Team Thunder Valley Racing #1 & #2), and our teammates will again be competing in the #85 FFR Challenge Series Cobra owned by Ed Boothman of Naples, FL. Our other long-standing partners and co-competitors in the race will be Team Prototype Development Group (PDG) with their awesome GTM-R, owned by Richard and Yvonne Migliori.
