(Thunder Valley) It's been over a month since Karen and I have taken over Thunder Valley Racing, and I thought I would update you on what direction that Karen and I were thinking of going.
First of all, I would like to say that I hope everyone had a good holiday season in 2003, and that everyone is right on track with their plans for the 2004 racing season.
One of our first projects was to send notices to all Thunder Valley Racing drivers to update their profiles. I, being one of the offenders that have neglected to update my profile, figured it would be a good way to hold myself accountable if I notified all of you too! I plan on doing this twice a year. The response was wonderful, and the changes keep coming in. If you havenıt done the updating, you may do so at anytime. Remember, it is to your benefit to stay current so that you are getting accurate exposure.
One of the other things we are working on is bringing back the "Driver of the Month." I have one in the works now that will be and running shortly. I have also enlisted Lauren Fix to add a few more technical articles to the site. If any of you have a subject that you would like to learn about, or questions, just e-mail me and let me know. Or if any of you have a technical article that you would like to add, send it over.
Another project that I am working on is putting together a resource page for references to books, movies and other sources that pertain to racing. We would also like to get some profiles on women in motorsports that are not drivers, such as women who are mechanics, crew chiefs, public relations, reporters, etc. If you know of any, or have some on your race team, notify us and we can start getting some profiles up on those wonderful ladies too.
Our main goal for Thunder Valley Racing is to make it a sort of "one-stop shopping" site for women involved in motorsports, as well as for fans and anyone looking for racers to promote. Another vision is to possibly create a type of non-profit division that provides sponsorship opportunities and a contingency system to all participating drivers. Please keep in mind that all of these things take time, and that we need everyoneıs participation and suggestions. This site is for all of us and needs to be put together by all of us. "If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space."
