Wild West Sprintcars

A Race Report from November 20
by Veronica McCann

Season 2002/2003 "Down Under" has just sprung into action and we're off to a good start! This season marks my 10th year in racing and at only 19 years old it feels like a lifetime. I must admit that for a while there I was considering taking a season off due to the fact that I haven't had a real off-season in quite a few years. I quickly came to my senses and, well, here I am!

a bit happy with the loud pedal ...

Season old Red Hot Racing and I have joined forces and they will lead me into my 3 season in Sprintcars. We are competing in the full Car Craft Wild West Sprintcar Series and after 3 rounds we sit in a tied 2nd place overall.

Points are as follows:

1. Daryl Clayden - 416 points 13. Peter Sinagra - 272
2. Veronica McCann - 408 14. Wayne Armstrong - 270
3. Ryan Farrell - 408 15. Grant Bevan - 252
4. Jamie Maiolo - 404 16. Ken Sartori - 250
5. Jeff Leisk - 394 17. Sean Zemunik - 216
6. Luch Monte - 382 18. Carl Williamson - 216
7. Pino Priolo - 378 19. Shannon Peet - 216
8. Allan Nash - 378 20. David Priolo - 216
9. Gavin Migro - 370 21. Allan Haynes - 140
10. Rob Adley - 364 22. Wayne Russell - 108
11. Rob Wells - 342 23. Ray Hale - 108
12. Trevor Reynolds - 276

Round 1 at Bunbury City Speedway saw us qualify for the Top 6 dash where we came home in 4th. Unfortunately after a brilliant run in the feature about 10 laps from the end I got a bit happy with the loud pedal and went for a spin on the infield but managed to come back and bring it home in 10th.

Round 2 at Kwinana Motorplex made for an awesome nights racing, a DNF in heat 1 being the only downfall. A 4th in heat 2 from the rear made up for the previous heat and an amazing 3rd in the A-main from position 9 finished the night sweetly.

finished the night sweetly ...

Round 3 back at Bunbury wasn't to be the best, we suffered from ignition problems early in the night which lead to a time trial effort of 3/4 of the way down the pack. After some average heats we only managed to qualify for the B-main where we finished 7th, unfortunately not making the transfer to the A-main.

There is still plenty of action to come from the West and we're at the pointy end, to keep informed visit www.veronicamccann.com for all the info!
