"NASCAR Driver Featured On Popular DVD"
LEBANON, TN (October 25, 2005) - The release of one of the most
anticipated films on DVD this season is being released Tuesday,
October 25th. The Herbie Fully Loaded DVD has a special treat
for NASCAR fans. Deborah Renshaw, driver of the No. 8 DODGE
in the Craftsman Truck Series, is featured on one special segment
of the DVD.

what it is like to be a driver in a major NASCAR series" |
"What an awesome opportunity to film the segment for the Herbie
Fully Loaded DVD," said Deborah Renshaw. "I am honored to
show people who watch the film what it is really like to be a driver
in a major NASCAR series. We filmed the segment at California Speedway
where I drove the character Trip Murphy's Cup car (played by Matt
Dillon). Using Trip's car, I show the audience every aspect
of what we do in an actual race car - from climbing in to putting
on our Han's device. We even take the audience for a ride
to show them what it is actually like driving 180 mph."
Early this race season Deborah was contacted by the DVD production
company that was commissioned by Disney to undertake this project. She
was immediately enthralled with the idea and quickly agreed to
be a part of the DVD project. Renshaw made the trip out to
the California Speedway in early June and spent a day filming for
the production of the featurette for the Herbie DVD. Deborah
had an early morning makeup and prep session to get ready for the
intense day-long filming. The film crew wanted every aspect
of Deborah's experience from how she came to be a race car driver
and how she was accepted in the industry. Then Deborah set
off to do her in-car filming. Strapped with a camera and
microphone, she set out to show some test laps on the track. From
mock pit stops to drafting Deborah showed her stuff to the enthusiastic
crew.
A full film crew was on hand including technical directors and
Disney personnel to ensure that every aspect of the filming was
authentic. After a long 14-hour day of filming Deborah was
left with the following thoughts:
| "...really good education
about what it is like to be a real female racecar driver" |
"It was really cool having all these people wanting to make sure
everything was accurate," Renshaw explained. "All and
all it was an exciting opportunity and the people I worked with
at Creative Domain especially Mitchell Rubinstein and Disney were
phenomenal. They all showed so much respect to me. They
were there to learn from us and I think they got a really good
education about what it is like to be a real female racecar driver."
"To date, this was my most favorite project of the year," stated Mitchell Rubinstein,
Executive Vice President, DVD of Creative Domain. "Deborah is not only
a natural behind the wheel, but in front of the camera as well. She was a pleasure
to work with, and hope we have other opportunities to work together in the future".
"It was a lot of fun," said Deborah. "I'm sure Lindsay (Lohan) had a real
education in auto racing and I know I sure got an education about what it is
like to be an actress - I think I'll stay with auto racing for now. Although,
if I were asked I'd jump in Herbie anytime. That's one thing Lindsay did
that I didn't get the opportunity to do. Herbie was off that day so I didn't
get to take a ride in that magical love bug. I have to thank everyone again
for the opportunity and I think the piece will be very
educational and entertaining for both children and adults".
