Sondi Eden Dominates at Indianapolis
Sondi rallied to win after no practice on Wednesday night at the USAC
Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome. The young aspiring female driver
took the outside lane and drove her Jonathan Byrd’s Catering/Impact
Racing/Auto Meter/Morse Family Dentistry/Bill Gentry Scott Bailey
Chevy-powered Hawk midget to the front. She dominated most of the race but
still needed a dramatic rally on a restart following a caution. Sondi
charged to the outside and was never contended with again as she almost
lapped the field.
Sondi took the lead on a restart on lap 19 of the scheduled 50-lap
race and never looked back. "The car was handling well, and I was able to
work the outside groove; we were so strong, it was unbelievable," Sondi
said.
The former NAMARS Regional Champion and the Indianapolis Speedrome
Champion driver led for 31 of the race's 50 laps and increased her points
lead to 45.
Sondi will return in the midget to the Indianapolis Speedrome USAC
National race on Wednesday 8/4 and in the sprint car to South Bend, IN, Friday 8/6
and Illiana Speedway, IN, on Saturday 8/7.
