Sondi Eden Wins Her Third Preliminary 410 Wing Sprint Car Race

Rockford, IL - They weren’t as good off the trailer this time but the crew made changes and got the car handling better. Sondi used both practice sessions to dial in the car. She qualified 7th – missing the inversion by hundredths of a second. At this little ¼ mile track you need to start up front. The car was good for the heat race and she used the inside to pass and win! Sondi felt good in the car and was excited about passing her way to the front for the feature. The car had other plans – gained too much stagger and got loose. Sondi held her position to finish 7th. A top ten but not what they had planned. “Up and down night – we were a little off and then great for the heat race and then a little off again for the feature – I think we had too much stagger, the car was pretty loose. I almost lost it a couple of times trying to pass but we hung in there for a top ten and rolled the car on the trailer after two races in one weekend.” Sondi said after the races.

Sondi has a Top Five Finish in Front of Big Hawkeye Downs Crowd

After the first set of hot laps, Sondi knew she had a fast racecar. With limited tires the crew decided to save their rubber and not go out for practice again. Sondi has been working on her “average” qualifying and she had a strong effort of 5th place. Sondi was aggressive in her heat race and made a last lap effort for the win but came up just shy and finished 2nd. The feature was interesting as the track got oiled by a couple of cars. For the majority of the race, Sondi was running 2nd and looking to use the lapped traffic as a pick to pass for the lead. Coming off turn two she got crossed up in the oil and dropped back to 4th. With only a few laps remaining, Sondi tried to make up ground but ran out of laps and finished 4th.

“A top five finish is always good, but I was confident in the car tonight and thought we had a good chance to win – that’s what we come here for – to win. So it’s disappointing when we don’t and I feel bad for the crew who works so hard”. Said Sondi.
