Teri MacDonald Competes in Second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race for 2004
Memphis, TN - Coming off an 8th Place finish in her first Super Truck race at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina last week, Teri MacDonald was looking forward to the Memphis race.
Teri started the 200-lap race in 34 position and finished 32. It was pretty much a green-flag race, only three yellow flags, and very few trucks dropping out.
Teri said the following regarding her race: "My #72 Chevy was the most ill-handling vehicle I had ever driven. It was so tight, I could not get it to turn anywhere through the corners. The first 175 laps I had to stay on the brakes almost the entire way through the corners to get the car to turn. The clutch and wheels were slipping; as soon as I hit 4000 rpm, the tach went wild, revving up to 7000 rpm. We may have had a rear-end problem based on the tire wear we were having. At the end of the race, one tire was down
to the cords all the way around the tire, with a major bulge bursting through. We will do a full assessment this week."
Teri was able to make two great saves during the race. The first came as another truck hit her coming off turn four. The truck fish-tailed, getting totally out of control, but Teri was able to stay in the gas and steer out of harm's way. The second came with only one lap to go: the tire finally wore out, and coming off the turn the rear-end gave way, and she was able again to
collect the truck and finish the race.
Teri carried the WAMinc logo on her hood in support of NASCAR's newly formed charity, Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports. "I am glad to be part of WAM. They are a great group of women that will make a difference in many people's lives." For more on WAM, visit their web site, www.WAMinc.org.
