Jean Nesser Takes 8th at San Antonio Speedway

August 17, 2002 - Gonzales, Texas - Jean Nesser had a strong 8th place finish this weekend at San Antonio Speedway, Texas. Jean raced the #69 Nesser Racing Inc./Chevrolet Nova on the 1/2 mile high banked asphalt track of San Antonio Speedway.

"It was nice to have the car running good this weekend, the crew worked furiously all week getting the car set up and tuned and it payed off", said Nesser. Jean finished 4th in her heat race and was to start on the outside pole for the feature.

During intermission, Nesser Racing for Kids, Jeans’ charity, sponsored a candy scramble for kids 12 and under. "There was a couple hundred kids present and they each gathered up enough candy to last a week", said Nesser.

In the feature race, it took 3 times before they finally got a good start. Unfortunately for Jean it was the worst of all three starts she had. She got railroaded on the outside, and wound up 4th before they settled in. No one could pass her, and she could hold off everyone attempting to pass. After a couple of yellows, and a couple of restarts she was pushed back a few more places, but finished a strong 8th out of 19 cars.

"We did great considering I don't have the lightweight flywheel like all the other cars, mine is about 17 pounds heavier than theirs. I was also running on 5 plus week old tires, so I am pleased with how I finished", said Nesser.
