Press Releases by Angela Proudfoot
August 19, 2004
NDRA
Reading, Penn. and NDRA Jupiter, FLa.
Neither hurricanes nor downpours will stop Team Angela Proudfoot
Racing from making this its best season ever! Though both
of the last two NDRA races were rained out, qualifying runs
were all that was needed for this team to show that it will
be making a strong comeback this year.
"Although we were disappointed that the race at Maple
Grove Raceway was rained out on August 1st, we were elated
to find that our new Liberty gearset was doing its job,"
said Angela. "We qualified 5th with an e.t. of 9.35-seconds
@ 146 mph! The gears allowed the car to shift more quickly
and smoothly while our new Z10-engineered front suspension
allowed the car to finally gain traction - our 60-foot times
are now in the 1.3s, which is the best they have ever been.
I am confident that we have all the components to run the
car hard this year without worrying about the engine and transmission
failure that plagued us last season."
It isn't just the transmission gears and suspension changes
that have propelled Angela into the low 9's -- staying with
tried and true engine components including JE pistons, Eagle
rods and cranks, Cometic gaskets & REV valves along with
a custom-built Garrett turbo, Fluidyne radiator, K&N filter,
NGK spark plugs, Goodridge lines, and Crane Cams electronics
have all contributed to the power and reliability of the car
this season.
Though the rained out race in Maple Grove was quite a bummer,
it is quite usual for one race to be rained out each season.
What is unusual, however, is for two races to be rained out
in a row, which is exactly what happened as Hurricane Charley
moved into Florida just before the next NDRA race was scheduled
to take place on August 14th & 15th. "Two rainouts
in a row -- that has to be a first," said Angela. "And
to think we started the weekend out great as we qualified
3rd with a 9.33 @ 153 mph even with the less than optimal
track conditions. Shortly thereafter it began to rain, then
Sunday morning it began to pour -- the rest is history."
The Maple Grove race has been rescheduled to run concurrently
with the NDRA race to be held at Atco Raceway August 28th-29th.
The Moroso race has been rescheduled to take place on September
25th-26th at Moroso Motorsports Park. Team APR plans to be
in attendance at both rescheduled events.
