Renshaw 25th in Atlanta Debut Driver And New Team Continue Growth
HAMPTON, GEORGIA Deborah Renshaw continues
the growth process in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and
with her new BHR2 team. Another chapter in this growth saw
the Bowling Green, Kentucky native safely pilot her No. 8
Easy Care DODGE to a 25th place finish in the running of the
World Financial Group 200 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Although not an overly impressive performance for us
it is important in what we are doing to finish these
races, stated Deborah. This was my first time
racing in Atlanta and we just really never got totally comfortable.
We managed to keep our nose clean and bring our truck home
without a scratch on it. We got down a lap early in the race
and we were never able to get it back and that made it tough
to work your way up through the field. We got better as the
race went on but it was a little too late.
Renshaw started the 130 lap event from the 31st position
as a result of her qualifying effort earlier on Friday. Once
the green flag flew, Deborah settled into a groove and hovered
around the 30th spot for the first 30 laps. After coming down
pit road for four fresh tires and fuel under caution on lap
41, the No. 8 Easy Care DODGE would restart in the 25th position
on lap 44. Deborah would go on to maintain that 25th position
throughout the remainder of the race until the checkered flag
flew.
The 25th place finish moved Renshaw up one spot in the overall
drivers standings to the 26th spot.
I will look at this race as a test session and hopefully
it will help us when we come back here towards the end of
the season, said Renshaw. This points deal
is really important as well and we were able to gain a spot
here and strengthen our grip on a top 30 position. We are
next off to Martinsville which is where I have my career best
finish in the Craftsman Truck Series and I look forward to
a strong run there. In the meantime, we will continue to grow
all aspects of this program and become more competitive each
week.
