Amy Ruman Ready for the Big Event-Heads to SCCA National Championship Runoffs

Munroe Falls, OH - The Ruman Racing team wrapped up its regular season in August and for the 3rd season in a row, Amy Ruman locked up 2nd place in the Northeast Division points standings for the 2005 season, missing 1st by just 2 points. In ten races, Ruman had five pole positions, seven podium finishes, which included two wins, three 2nd places, and two 3rd's. Ruman also made her Trans-Am Series debut this year running in the Cleveland Grand Prix and finishing 10th.

Ruman is headed to the famous SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the week of September 19-25. The SCCA Runoffs bring together the top national drivers from across the country to compete for the title of National Champion in their respective car classes. Only those who place in the top-10 in their Division points standings are eligible to compete. Ruman Racing will field the familiar #23 McNichols/Cenweld/SafetyToday Chevrolet Corvette in Ruman's third time at the Runoffs. Ruman's best finish at the Runoff's is 5th and last year, Ruman finished 9th after having car problems during the race. This year's GT-1 race will be on Saturday, September 24 at 5:10pm.

"I feel I have a really great chance at the podium this year. When we tested last week, the car felt great and I put together some pretty good times. I am already running faster times than I did last year," stated Ruman. "I am really trying to be focused, and put together a good qualifying time. We need to be up front for the start of the race so we can stay there."

Television coverage of the entire 2005 SCCA Kohler Runoffs will be aired on SPEED Channel. All races will be tape delayed with coverage starting Sunday, November 13. The GT-1 race is scheduled to air Sunday, December 11 at 2:00pm EDT.
