Subie Gal Racing Wins Season Opener

Montesano, WA – The team opened the 2004 Rally Season with the infamous Doo Wop ClubRally series hosted by Ray and Janice Damitio. This rally is ALWAYS one of the best as the roads are just fantastic, the organizers are enthusiastic and the price is right. Doo Wops 2004 had a field of 40+ cars, and will go down in the record books as driver Carl Jardevall and Amity Trowbridge (Evo4) SHATTERED the infamous Brooklyn Tavern Rally Stage!! (way to go!)

2004 Doo Wops was particularly meaningful to the SubieGal Racing team as 2003 left "Burnsie the Rally Wagon" hanging (literally) on the edge of a drop off and handed the team their first ever DNF. Team was looking for a little revenge --- and they got it!! Not only did they finish both days, but also took First Place in PGT car class as well.

SubieGal Racing team driver Jamie Thomas had a few comments about the rally, “I went in there a nervous wreck, mainly as I'd not driven in months, and now I had to face my worst off and one of only 2 DNF's I've suffered. It took quite a bit of focus, but the car was going so great, that when Matt called out "that corner" I simply shouted 'Hey yeah I know that corner... got it!!!' We had a good laugh over that later. Overall, a fantastic event, very productive and a great start to 2004.“

Team Co-driver Matt Gauger stated, "This weekend's race was great... It was a real pleaser being out there... we're getting faster!" This is Matt's 2nd year as the SubieGal Racing team navigator. The only incident of the rally for the pair was on the third stage of the second day. It had been raining continuously the entire day through, when the team came a bit too quick into a slicked up tight left hand turn. Burnsie went into a spin, but managed to stop shy of the trees - much to the pleasure of the team and the service crew! The team lost approximately 20 desperately needed seconds, but still managed to finish 7th overall in the standings.
