Jamie "Subie Gal" Thomas Finds Success at Oregon Trail ProRally

Veronia/Hillsboro, OR: The Subie Gal Racing team was successful in its quest for a strong finish at the Oregon Trail ProRally, the second round of the SCCA ProRally National Championship held in Veronia, Oregon. The team battled hard all weekend and found itself 12th overall (team personal best!) in the ProRally, with a strong 2nd place finish in PGT car class. In the ClubRally portions of the event, the team also finished 2nd in PGT both days, earning 5th overall in the Trails End ClubRally.

This year a three-day event, the organizers tried something new by introducing two small stages and a “drag race” held on Friday evening at Portland International Raceway, thus exposing the motorsport of rally to an entirely new audience. Most of the teams enjoyed the opportunity to share their sport with a new audience. Conditions were nearly ideal as typical Northwest spring weather went elsewhere. The sun was out, the temperature at 70F. The weekend's stages were technical, windy, loose in places, and hidden mud slicks.

“Things started off fairly difficult for us this weekend, logistics-wise,” explained Subie Gal Racing team driver Jamie Thomas. “All the preparations in the world cannot prepare you for these last-minute demons that creep up, but it worked out in the long run and we finished really well. The surface out there was very, very loose in spots, and the stages were technical; yet I thought they were fun to drive – guess those are my kinds of roads!“

Subie Gal Team Co-driver Matt Gauger laughed, "Jamie is fast ... faster than I am. We were really moving on some of those stages; the car felt great.”

The team's success puts it on top of the Northern Pacific & Western States Rally Championship in the PGT car class, as well as earning the team some points in the National ProRally Championship. The Oregon Trail ProRally is to be televised on SPEED channel. Check your local listings for dates/times.
