Tippet: Ready to Tackle Thruxton
Cheltenham based Claire Tippet is ready to add to her 16
point tally when she heads to Thruxton this Bank Holiday weekend
for the ninth and tenth rounds of the VW Racing Cup.
The Hampshire circuit is one of the fastest tracks in the
country and this will be the first time Claire has raced there.
To familiarise herself with the circuit, Claire took part
in a track day and was taken by the fast and sweeping nature
of the course.
"I think my Golf may struggle a little as its engine
is older and it is a very fast circuit" said Claire,
after visiting the track. "But, there are some technical
sections of the circuit where I think I will be able to make
up ground and it will really test my race technique so I can't
wait to get there!".
Currently lying 20th in this her debut championship year,
Claire hopes her Golf MkI's smallness will prove an advantage
and opportunities to outbreak competitors in the complex section
will see her leave Thruxton with a pair of top twelve finishes.
Claire is also excited that her racing campaign can now
be followed on the internet with the launch of her website
at www.clairetippet.com . And, Claire was recently interviewed
on BBC Radio Gloucester, an experience she very much enjoyed.
"The radio interview was great fun and it was good
to be able to tell people about my racing and the VW Cup"
said Claire. "Taking part in interviews and having a
website is all very new and exciting to me but as well as
highlighting my racing, if it could encourage others to take
part in racing, especially other women, that would be wonderful.
It is a great sport."
