Caroline
Wright / Ed Magner Tackle Mid-Ohio Grand AM Cup
Mansfield,
OH (June 25, 2003) Ed Magner and Caroline B. Wright team up
for the third time during the 2003 season to drive the STII
class #48 WTF Engineering/Mantapart.com Chevrolet Cavalier
Z24 for the Mid-Ohio Twin 200's July 28, part of the Mid-Ohio
Road Racing Classic. The pair opened the Grand Am Cup season
with a victory at Daytona and finished fourth in class at
Phoenix. Magner has earned four class poles this year.
"Mid-Ohio
is a course where I have had great success at in the past,"
said Wright. "I have a lot of seat time at Mid-Ohio,
but it's been a
while. It's a track I love and hate all at the same time.
It has a
rhythm, but that rhythm is irregular. Last time I was here
in 2000, it
was in a high horsepower mid-engine rear-wheel drive car.
It will take a while to re-adjust to a front-wheel drive car.
The WTF Engineering/Mantapart.com baby bowtie should be quick.
Hopefully, we can turn the tide on Ed's string of misfortune
this season."
Magner
has been racing professionally since 1984. He has competed
in IMSA Firehawk, Toyo, Speedvision Cup and International
Sedan series, as well as the Motorola Cup and Grand Am Cup
endurance series. Magner has 10 professional race wins, 31
podiums and 15 poles in 103 pro starts since 1984.
Wright
has been competing professionally since 1996, including the
Neon Pro Challenge, the 1999 Rolex 24 at Daytona, and World
Challenge GT. She also holds three SCCA division championship
titles. This will be her third Grand-Am Cup start.
The
green flag flies for the Grand Am Cup ST Class race at 2:00,
Saturday June 28. The race will be broadcast on Speed Channel
July 19 at 2:00 EST.
