Debbie Lunsford-Love

Type of Racing: Stock Car

Race Series: Super Late Model and Late Model Stock divisions in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series in the southeast United States. Professional level competing against top short track asphalt drivers in America. Also competed in one NASCAR Busch Series event.

Introduction: Debbie started racing when she graduated from college on the dirt tracks of the southeast. Within a year she moved to the short track asphalt tracks of Georgia and South Carolina competing in the Late Model Stock and the Super Late Model divisions.

In her ten year racing career Debbie has competed in over 300 stock car events, won two Late Model track championships and compiled 49 feature wins.

Debbie was introduced to racing by her father, Bud Lunsford, who is the winningest dirt track driver in racing history with 1,139 feature wins, but even though she learned her driving style and winning ways from her legendary father, asphalt is where she found her love of racing to be instead of the dirt tracks her father loved so.

In 1991, she married her arch racing rival Mike Love, after she became the first driver to unseat him as the Lanier National Speedway track champion after eight consecutive years. She was the first female ever to win a NASCAR Weekly Racing Series feature division points championship by winning the Super Late Model championship at Lanier National in Georgia. She also holds the Super Late Model track record at Lavonia Speedway as well as has won races at Peach State Speedway in Georgia and Anderson Speedway in Anderson, SC racing against drivers such as Jason Keller, David Green, Toby Porter, Rick Crawford, Butch Miller, and many more.

Current Season: Currently Debbie is racing on a select basis at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series in the featured top division which is the Late Model Stock class. During this time, she is in discussions with various teams in several NASCAR touring series for rides in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Busch Series, along with a combination of regional racing series events.

Racing Goals: Debbie's plans are to secure a ride with a first rate, quality team in the Craftsman Truck and/or Busch Series. Her goals are to win races in each of these series as well as win the series championship in either one or both series, and then after gaining important experience and seat time in these series, advance to Nextel Cup and win races and the Nextel Cup.

Personal: Debbie lives in Maysville, GA on a farm. She is married to Mike Love who she met as a fellow Super Late Model competitor. They raced many hard battles on the tracks of Georgia and South Carolina for several years before love won out over both of them.

Debbie has a stepson, Joey Love, who is also an accomplished racer in the NASCAR Weekly Truck Series in the southeast. Her hobbies are hanging out with her twelve dogs and riding the utility vehicles on the farm and she loves to read.

Special Thanks to: Debbie wants to thank her dad and mom for always supporting and believing in her, and her dad for teaching her everything she knows about driving and winning on and off the track with honor. And her husband, who is probably the best driver she has ever raced against but he always raced her fair, and because when they could only afford for one of them to race, he gave up his car for her to be able to race.
