Mae van Wijk

Type of Racing: Sports Car

Race Series: Amateur driver in the Grand American
Rolex in the GT class.

Introduction: Mae went one day with her father to Texas Speedway at Colidge Station.
Fully believing that he would never let her drive his souped up M5, she asked him whether she could, so that she could remind him the rest of his life. To her surprise, he let her. And with that he created a monster.
Now she is hooked for the rest of her life.

Current Season: Mae raced in all the races of the GA Rolex class - GT and is just back from the 250 mi. Brumos race in Daytona. She qualified 19th out of 28 with a time of 2:01.180 and finished 13th out of 28th in class and 32nd out of 55 overall.

Racing Goals: Next year Mae hopes to drive a Daytona Prototype and go professional. Her aim is not just to become a good female driver, but to become one of the best drivers.

Personal: Mae is single, 22 years of age. She likes to work with flowers, likes to play the cello. And when she is not driving her 400+ HP, she likes to ride the 1 HP.

Special Thanks to: Mae would like to thank Cole Scrogham, Sam White and the whole crew of the Synergy Racing Team. Great Crew!!!! And also her teachers, Price Cobb, Craig Stanton and David Murry.
