Tiffany Lorton

Type of Racing: Sports Car

Race Series: SCCA, National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC), Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs (MCSCC)

Introduction: Tiffany experienced her first race as a passenger. In 1979, her mother raced a Pinto at Road Atlanta while three months pregnant with Tiffany.

In the 1980's, Tiffany watched her father race at Daytona, Sebring, Mid-Ohio, and Road America. At age seven, Tiffany raced her brother's go-cart around the front yard and at fifteen, she finished second in the Greater Lafayette (IN) Soap Box Derby car. By then, she pictured herself racing Corvettes, as had her father a decade earlier.

With her father's help, she purchased and prepared a 1985 Corvette, which she drove in autocross events for two years in SCCA and National Council of Corvette Club (NCCC) events. In 2000 and 2001, she won the Indianapolis SCCA's Novice and SSL Class championships.

In 2001, she accepted an invitation to participate in Lyn St. James' Professional Drivers Development Program. In 2002, she placed 4th in the Indiana Region NCCC, and 41st nationally. In 2003, she won the NCCC Indiana championship, placing 50th overall nationally. In 2004, Tiffany began her high speed, wheel-to-wheel racing career in the Midwest Council of Sports Car Clubs (MCSCC), placing third place in the ITC class.

In 2005, Tiffany won the 2005 Midwest Council of Sports Car Club and the North Suburban Sports Car Clubs? ITC Class Championships. A team made up of Tiffany, her father, and her husband competed in MCSCC's ten hour endurance race at Gingerman Raceway, co-driving the 1966 Corvette that her father raced in the 1970's. Tiffany finished two ninety-minute stints (74 laps or nearly 139 miles) before the car lost the clutch nearing the seven-hour mark. The team finished first in the GT1 class and thirteenth overall.

Current Season: Tiffany continues winning in 2006. On May 21, 2006, she took the checkered flag in the ITC Class at the Milwaukee Mile. She is currently in second place in the ITC Class.

Racing Goals: Tiffany plans to continue racing "forever". She is always looking for new rides and new racing opportunities. She wants to continue to compete in endurance events. While road racing is her first love, the lure of oval track racing intrigues her, as well. She is willing to attempt any type of racing venture.

Personal: Tiffany is married to Aaron Lorton, a Lafayette (IN) police officer, who is building a 1988 Fiero to race in the MCSCC series. She is a rheumatology nurse at Arnett Clinic, the President of the Lafayette Corvette Club and its former governor. In addition to racing, she enjoys photography, reading, writing short stories, and traveling. Tiffany?s role models include the guru of racing medicine, Dr. Terry Trammell, legendary racer, A.J. Foyt and NASCAR's Rusty Wallace.

Special Thanks to: Tiffany thanks her parents and husband, Aaron for their support, Dr. Terry Trammell for everything he has done to assist her in racing safely, and Lyn St. James for her wisdom and support
