Shea Holbrook

Type of Racing: Sports Car

Race Series: Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Central Florida Region, National Auto Sports Assoication (NASA), Florida, Formula and Auto Racing Association (FARA), Florida.

Introduction: Shea first started High Performance Driving Events (HPDE) with orgainizations like NASA and Chin Motorsports at the age of 16. Her intrest in racing started when her dad (Jeff Holbrook) bought her a ticket for the Richard Petty Experience at Daytona. Shea got her SCCA License in May of 2007 along with her NASA and FARA licensing credentials.

Current Season: 2008 season for Shea was somewhat in a holding pattern for a period of time. Shea was one of 600+ applicants that entered in the Volkswagen TDI Cup Challenge in March 2008 and was one of 100 drivers invited to go to Pheonix, AZ. in April 2008 for the Driver's Selection Process. Shea was one of about 5 female drivers in attendance and was the only female to make the 1st cut down to 35 drivers, unfortunatley Shea did not make the final cut to be one of the 30 drivers. Currently Shea is back racing in her own car, a 1998 Acura Integra and primarily racing in SCCA and FARA in the Florida Region.

Racing Goals: Her passion of motorsports is strong, even though Shea didn't grow up in the world of motorsport. The moment she got out of her first experience on the track with Richard Petty she knew that a career as a driver is what she wanted. She intends on getting experience in all three of the major racing diciplines, Road Racing, Open Wheel and Circle Track.

Personal: As a young Girl Shea grew up on the water as a competitive Nationally Racked Waterskier from the early age of 8. Shea has held numerous State Regional and National Titles in Slalom, Trick and her primary event Jumping. However, the thril of hitting the ski jump at 50mph and flying through the air doesn't "float her boat" like the feeling of entering turn one at Sebring at 110mph or the sensation of flat out 140mph in the banking at Homestead Miami Speedway. Recently she told her dad, "it's time for a faster car, a buck 40 at Homestead feels like I'm driving my Audi on the Florida Turnpike".

Special Thanks to: Many people have given Shea great assistance on the way, people like Mike Kern of www.MJKRacing.com and Matt Lang and Juan Paulino of www.MLRMotorsports.com. K&N Filters (Shea's first product line sponsor), Skip Barber Racing, www.PositiveOutput.com who is also a Porsche Racing Team from South Florida and of course Mom and Dad (Erin and Jeff Holbrook)
